If you are as Alaskan resident traveling outside Alaska, have purchased a
vehicle, and want to have the transaction processed prior
to coming back to Alaska.
You will need the following:
- The ownership documentone of the following signed off and/or re-assigned correctly:
- Manufacturer Certificate of
Origin (MCO) OR
- Manufacturer Statement of
Origin (MSO) OR
- Title
- Completed

Application for Title and Registration signed by the registered owner
*Effective January 2011: Alaska DMV requires ONE of the following on every application for Title and Registration: Alaska Driver’s License, Date of Birth OR Social Security Number.
- Fees due
- DMV registration fee

- $15.00 DMV title fee
- $15.00 DMV lien recording fee
- City Tax due (see
Fees and Taxes)
- $30.00 processing fee
- OPTIONAL: $20.00 Same day service, puts your documents as priority over daily work and guarantees next day mail-out
- An IM test waiver - if
vehicle is to reside in the Municipality of
Anchorage (MOA), or be used to commute to
Anchorage, you will need a waiver. You
will need to get the waiver from the MOA first.
If the vehicle is over 6 years old from the current year, it will need an
Outside Use Waiver form from MOA. To obtain the
waiver, you will need proof (ie. oil
change document) of the location of the vehicle
outside Alaska.
